UMass Amherst Central Heating Plant
BSC Group worked with the University of Massachusetts Building Authority and a team of engineers and architects to design and construct a new Central Heating Plant (CHP) on the Amherst campus. The new cogeneration facility provides steam heat for the campus and produces approximately 10 MW at 13.8 kV to meet campus base electrical load requirements.
Additionally, BSC designed a stormwater management plan for erosion and sedimentation control, conducted a full flood study of the Mill River and Tan Brook, and provided an engineering analysis of the nine-square mile tributary to identify the 100-year floodplain.
Lastly, BSC designed a secondary emergency access road for the University.
