Cambridge Discovery Park
BSC played an integral role in permitting for the development of Cambridge Discovery Park, requiring close coordination with the Cambridge Planning Board (Project Review Special Permit, Flood Plain Overlay District Special Permit, and District 4 Dimensional Relief Special Permit); Cambridge and Arlington Conservation Commissions (ANRADs, Superseding Order of Conditions and NOIs); Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (NPDES for construction activities). The project approvals for the first phase were achieved within a compressed timeframe, involving a continuously evolving design with extensive project team coordination.
This project required a stormwater management strategy designed to compensate for displacement of floodwaters caused by the project improvements. Underground chambers were designed for the temporary storage of these floodwaters which then flow through the creative storm water ponds.
