Hope Cemetery Master Plan

For the City of Worcester’s Hope Cemetery, BSC prepared a 250-year master plan, which incorporated both cremation interment or entombment and full casket interment. This project also included options for creation of a Muslim section (that involved green burial techniques according to the Muslim faith), an orthodox section, a significant indigent burial area, an extensive earthen berm with a future niche wall option, and an earth movement plan to avoid the need to move soils off site as the cemetery becomes fully occupied.

The master plan also included an inventory driveway conditions, fence and wall evaluations, existing buildings and space needs evaluation including structures on the National Historic Register, review of the rules and regulations, fee structures and related cemetery documents, and redesign of a large area of existing unsold graves to improve long-term maintenance.
