DCR Newton, MA
Hammond Pond Parkway Design
BSC Group is providing DCR with traffic engineering, roadway design, landscape architecture, environmental permitting, public outreach, bidding and construction phase services for the design of a full-depth road-way reconstruction of Hammond Pond Parkway in the City of Newton. The final design will achieve a totally new cross-section of the corridor and implement elimination of two travel lanes to create pedestrian and bicycle accommodations. New historic lighting and vegetation will provide a more aesthetically appealing corridor.
Hammond Pond Parkway was built in 1932 and this effort will return it to its original historic intent as a parkway. BSC is preparing design plans that will reconstruct Hammond Pond Parkway as a “complete streets gem” and ultimately uphold DCR’s commitment to providing safe access to all modes of travel on its parkway systems. The new shared-use path system will connect citizens to the largest open space network in the City of Newton.
