Broadway Corridor Study

In order to capitalize on benefits from the recently opened Encore Casino, BSC developed a study with the City of Malden to prepare for and guide opportunities along its busy Broadway (Route 99) Corridor. The study examined existing physical and economic conditions and identified recommended revitalization options for key parcels. The study identified the community’s vision for the corridor, which will define the preferred land uses, clarify the zoning districts, describe local character, recommend circulation improvements, consider sustainable infrastructure, address potential contamination issues, and incorporate public and stakeholder input.

Also central to this study is the consideration of how current and future development scenarios will intensify existing traffic patterns. BSC provided a transportation analysis that identified strategies to balance the needs of car, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic.
