BSC’s award-winning Oyster Shell Park project was highlighted in the February, 2010 issue of Norwalk On the Move, a publication of the Hour Publishing Company and the Norwalk Redevelopment Authority.
The article, written by Susan Sweitzer of the Norwalk Redevelopment Authority, features a discussion of the complex design issues that BSC Group’s landscape architecture team is managing as part of the landfill reuse project. Issues associated with the park’s former role as a landfill include the selection of materials and plantings that will reduce impacts to the landfill liner and affect the park’s stability.
BSC Group has been involved in this exciting project since the master planning phase, for which our team developed an innovative plan to incorporate sustainable energy and natural resources restoration as the centerpiece of the park program. BSC’s landscape architects are now providing design services and working with the community to present the project as a part of the Sustainable Sites Pilot Program.
BSC’s initial master plan for Oyster Shell Park was honored with awards from both the Boston and Connecticut Societies of Landscape Architects.
