BSC has provided civil/site engineering services to client JDL Castle for the relocation of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Northeast Regional Office from 1 Blackburn Drive to 55 Great Republic Drive in the recently expanded Blackburn Industrial Park in Gloucester, MA. The project has received an Order of Conditions from the Gloucester Conservation Commission and approvals from the Gloucester Economic Development & Industrial Corporation and is under construction. The project includes two interconnected office and lab/research buildings. Project highlights included site design to balance cut/fills and use of existing on-site rocks to build a 1:1 rock slope in areas of fill rather than retaining walls, as well as site stormwater design to meet DEP’s Stormwater Management Standards and incorporate three underground infiltration/detention systems located under the parking lots allowing the project to minimize site clearing. BSC is performing limited construction support and monitoring during construction.
