BSC Group welcomes Michael Toohill, PWS, CE to the firm’s ecological team. Bringing more than 30 years of experience, Mike will focus on providing regulatory strategy and ecological services to our clients, with an emphasis on our energy and transportation service areas. Mike offers essential experience leading multi-disciplinary teams of scientists, planners, environmental engineers, economists, GIS analysts, and other technical specialists on complicated infrastructure and land development projects for public and private sector clients.
Mike’s experience includes electrical transmission infrastructure projects, ecological site restoration, flood mitigation, golf/residential community development, highway infrastructure expansion projects, and commercial land development. Additionally, Mike has served as a peer reviewer for several professional journals, and has authored articles on constructed wetlands, water quality attenuation, mitigation design, community outreach, and impact assessment. Mike has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Tufts University, where he taught “Methods in Environmental Impact Assessment” for seven years and was a graduate student advisor. Mike is currently treasurer (and immediate past chairman) of the New England Chapter of the Society of Ecological Restoration and a member of the SER Professional Certification Board.
Mike’s skills in understanding the intricacies and inter-relatedness of the regulatory process, his familiarity with regulators, and his scientific and ecological expertise will contribute to our goals in achieving client success. Specific areas of expertise include ecological impact, habitat evaluation, water quality assessment, and ecological restoration design. Mike comes to BSC from Coneco Engineers & Scientists, where he was a principal and formed the firm’s Ecological Services Division.
