Kurt Prochorena, PE, LEP, LEED AP, of BSC Group’s Glastonbury office recently authored an article discussing how the current economic crisis has affected the design process for land development projects of all sizes. Entitled “A Change in Approach with the Integrated Design Process Requires Free Flowing Communications,” Kurt’s article emphasizes the importance of a collaborative design process in achieving project success while protecting the bottom line. He credits the need to tightly control project costs with spurring the Integrated Design Process that encourages the free flow of ideas between all designers throughout the project lifecycle.
Key elements of the Integrated Design Process (IDP) include:
- + Early collaboration between project stakeholders and all members of the design team
- + Constant communication between designers to share ideas and adapt to challenges
- + Collective commitment to a circular design process that responds to project issues
Kurt’s article appeared in the May 15, 2009 issue of the New England Real Estate Journal, a leading publication focused on the commercial real estate market.
