Gillian Davies, a senior wetland scientist in BSC’s Worcester office, has been invited to serve on the Natural Resources and Habitat Subcommittee of the Global Warming Solutions Act (GWSA) Adaptation Advisory Committee. The committee has been established by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs under a directive of the Global Warming Solutions Act.
The Natural Resources and Habitat Subcommittee is charged with analyzing natural resource and habitat change adaptation strategies and providing guidance in this regard to the GWSA Adaptation Advisory Committee. The subcommittee will work concurrently with other subcommittees representing energy providers; municipal government; transportation providers; low-income residents; academic institutions; and commercial, industrial, and manufacturing industries, as they advise the GWSA Adaptation Advisory Committee. The committee will submit final recommendations by December 31, 2009.
Gillian is a recognized leader in wetland science and preservation. She frequently presents at industry conferences for such organizations as the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions and the Association of Massachusetts Wetland Scientists, and is slated to present a hydric soils and soil science workshop at the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commission’s summer conference in June.
