BSC Group is pleased to announce that Aarthy Sabesan has joined the firm’s Worcester office as a GIS Analyst. Aarthy has extensive experience in GIS, including performing spatial modeling and analysis, data acquisition and management, GIS-based environmental assessments and impact investigations, and field surveys.
Most recently, Aarthy served as GIS Analyst with Ecology and Environment, Inc. in Tallahassee, FL, where she was instrumental in establishing and maintaining a GIS system for the firm’s southeastern region, as well as providing GIS, remote sensing, and 3D visualization support to the natural resource management projects. She also has noteworthy experience at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN, where she supported the U.S. Department of Energy’s mission of developing, implementing, and applying geo-spatial technology to support national environmental and energy programs.
Aarthy has been responsible for numerous presentations and publications. Most recently, she co-authored “Spatial Designation of Critical Habitats for Endangered and Threatened Species in the United States,” which is currently in publication with The Haworth Press. She has presented at such conferences as the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, and the Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union. Her representative poster presentations have addressed such topics as geo-visualization for environmental decision-making, and detecting environmental change through spatio-temporal analysis of land use shifts.
“BSC is pleased to welcome Aarthy, who will play an important role on the firm’s integrated project teams,” said BSC Group Vice President and Principal Ingeborg Hegemann. “With her extensive technical skills and experience applying GIS to diverse projects, Aarthy will be a valuable asset to clients as they assess and manage their natural resources and built environments.”
