As part of the consultant team for the City of Boston’s Downtown Crossing Economic Improvement Initiative, BSC participated in the presentation of design and marketing concepts for the area to project stakeholders and City officials. The presentation marked the first public unveiling of concepts for the proposed revitalization of the area, and involved participation in breakout discussion groups that focused on specific aspects of urban design, economic vitality, and marketing and branding.
The presentation follows the completion of the initial project phase, during which BSC has met with various stakeholders, including the Boston Redevelopment Authority, property owners, various non-profit and advocacy groups and city agencies including the Boston Transportation and Public Works Departments; worked with other project team consultants on an existing conditions report; and completed a major data collection effort in the area, which included pedestrian volume counts, questionnaire surveys and the inventorying of the physical environment of the area.
BSC is part of an international team of consultants selected by the City of Boston for this aspect of the Economic Improvement Initiative. Team firms include Urban Marketing Collaborative (Toronto), Moore Iacofano Goltsman (Berkeley), 160over90 (Philadelphia), and Intelligent Space Partnership (London, UK).
