In an event hosted by the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) and the Mayor of Boston, the Downtown Crossing consultant team presented their final recommendations for improvements to the district on November 27th. The presentation was a culmination of the project team’s work over the past 12 months and detailed the strategies for economic and urban design improvements to revitalize the area. The strategies were unveiled to invited stakeholders and the media, in advance of the final report, which is scheduled for release in early 2008. The consultant team formulated the plan with input from the BRA and other City agencies, as well as input from local stakeholders. Major initiatives announced included a proposal to form a Business Improvement District and major urban design improvements to the pedestrian mall along Washington Street.
