Today, BSC Companies, Inc. Board of Directors voted unanimously to name David N. Hayes, PE, LEED AP as the next President of BSC Companies, Inc., the parent firm of BSC Group and Geonetics. Hayes will also assume the position of Chief Executive Officer. Formerly the Executive Vice President of BSC, David will succeed outgoing President Charles Kalauskas, PE who has led the firm’s engineering consulting business since 2012. Hayes will begin his role immediately, having responsibility for the operational and financial management of BSC Group and its affiliate. Kalauskas, who has been with BSC since 1981, will remain available to assist in the transition as Chairman of the Board, a role he is assuming from the firm’s Chairman and former President (1990 to 2012) Richard Long.
“It’s a natural progression for Dave to take the lead as CEO and President of BSC Companies. Based on our shared business responsibility and philosophy, I’m confident BSC will succeed under his leadership,” said new Chairman Kalauskas. “In fact, in recent years, the Kalauskas, Hayes, Long trio served as an executive management team in anticipation of this important transition in 2015.”
Hayes will continue stimulating the firm’s growth in BSC’s core market strengths of transportation, energy-utilities, and land development. He is deeply involved in the training and development of new firm leaders through the establishment of a management committee in 2012 and the subsequent promotion of two new principals of the firm during the last three years. “I look forward to working with our talented team of professionals to strengthen BSC’s position in this ever-evolving marketplace and to help develop the next generation of leaders,” said Hayes.
Hayes joined BSC in 1987 and has worked with Kalauskas and Long for more than 25 years. Hayes is a registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, holds an MBA from Boston University and a BA in Mathematics and Engineering from Trinity College, Dublin University, Ireland. In December 2012, Hayes was re-elected to his second, three-year term on the MassEcon Board of Directors-the Commonwealth’s private sector partner in promoting Massachusetts as the premier choice for business growth.
BSC’s Board of Directors also voted today to expand its board to include Ingeborg Hegemann, PWS, a Senior Vice President and Principal managing the firm’s Worcester office, and Kurt Prochorena, PE, LEP, a BSC Vice President and Principal managing the firm’s Glastonbury office.
Celebrating its 50th year, BSC is a leader in providing integrated planning and engineering solutions to public and private sector clients for land development, transportation, and energy-utility projects throughout New England. Founded in 1965, the firm has 120 professionals and operates from offices in Boston, Worcester, and Yarmouth, MA, as well as Glastonbury, CT.
