BSC’s structural group recently provided design and construction phase services for the replacement of the Adamsville Road over Tisdell Brook Bridge in Colrain.
Opening the new bridge capped off a three-year collaborative process with the Town. BSC’s involvement in the project began in 2016 when our structural engineers met with Colrain officials to discuss several deficient bridges owned by the municipality. After determining that the Adamsville Road over Tisdell Brook Bridge was structurally critical, BSC assisted with MassWorks Small Bridge and MassDOT Infrastructure grant applications to help fund its replacement.
The project followed an accelerated time table and was completed ahead of schedule; opening to traffic last November was essential to avoid lengthy detours during the winter season. BSC’s design also utilized pre-cast construction, allowing the installation to be completed in just two hours and reducing construction phase impacts.
