Celebrating World Landscape Architecture Month

This month, we recognize the transformative power of landscape architecture in building resilient, sustainable, and inspiring spaces for all. It’s an opportunity to advocate for the profession, highlight its impact on shaping healthier communities, and inspire future generations of landscape architects.

Project Spotlight: Worcester Miyawaki Forests – a powerful example of ecological restoration in action!

BSC’s landscape architects and planners are working with the City of Worcester to design and plant two Miyawaki Forests while developing two CoolPockets—small urban parks designed to strengthen community and ecological resilience.

Mitigating Extreme Heat & Flooding – These green spaces help cool urban areas, reduce the heat island effect, and improve stormwater management.

Cleaner Air & Greener Cities – Increasing Worcester’s tree canopy improves air quality, filters pollutants, and enhances urban livability.

Advancing Environmental Justice – In collaboration with Bio4Climate, these forests are being planted in environmental justice zones, ensuring that climate resilience efforts benefit historically underserved communities.

A Sustainable & Inclusive Future – Through thoughtful design, community engagement, and ecological innovation, this project helps protect vulnerable populations from climate change while making Worcester greener and more livable for all.

At BSC, we are committed to designing landscapes that enhance climate resilience, promote sustainability, and support healthier communities. Join us in celebrating the power of landscape architecture this month!
