Two-Bridges Riverside Trail, Newton, MA – In the coming weeks BSC will begin the survey, preliminary design, and cost estimating services for the development of the Two Bridges-Riverside Trail in Newton, MA. The proposed trail intends to connect the Village of Newton Lower Falls and adjacent Charles River recreation trails to the Riverside MBTA station via an abandoned railroad bed. In addition to providing a key connection point, the trail design will also support recreational activities, accommodate two bridge crossings, and require extensive coordination with Massachusetts state agencies such as MassDOT, MBTA and DCR. The project was solicited and will be funded by the Two Bridges-Riverside Trails Working Group, a coalition of stakeholders working with DCR to create connections between recreational trails along the Charles River.
Route 1 and I-95 Bikeway Crossings, Peabody, MA – BSC will also be evaluating bike trail alternatives across Route 1, I-95, and local streets in Peabody to connect the existing Independence Greenway with the Border to Boston Trail network. The study area includes an abandoned railbed that will require coordination with the City, MassDOT, and utility companies. BSC will also be providing interdisciplinary services for this project, as part of the feasibility study will require structural engineering services to develop alternatives for the crossings of Lowell Street, Route 1 and I-95.
