BSC Group is working with the City of Worcester to revamp our 2016 Urban Renewal Plan (URP) to accommodate for the new home of the Pawtucket Red Sox, which includes a 10,000-seat ballpark stadium and associated mixed-use developments that will incorporate commercial and office space, apartment buildings, and hotels. The extended boundary area of the URP encompasses more than 30 properties and 21-acres of land.
While the vision set forth in the 2016 URP is being realized through several smaller projects, the City’s most recent acquisition of the PawSox ball park has required an extension to the URP to consider the planned development opportunities and offer solutions for the impacts associated with its construction. The reworked plan will embrace a new vision for the City of Worcester’s growing Canal District as well as build upon the area’s historic legacy and the established goals of the 2016 URP.
The amended URP also includes a wider range of commercial, residential, and recreational/event uses, while incorporating opportunities for employment and business development, the integration of aesthetic improvements, and the promotion of safe multi-modal transit options.
