BSC Group was presented the Silver Award for Engineering Excellence at the American Council of Engineering Companies’ annual awards gala on April 9, 2008. The honor was presented to BSC Group for the firm’s work on the The Bulfinch Companies’ Cambridge Discovery Park project.
BSC Group led the design team for the development of a 128,000 sf office, laboratory, and research and development building for Smithsonian Institution Astrophysical Observatory. Driven by a fast-track schedule, the project team overcame several challenging and complex project issues, such as the site’s location with the 100-year floodplain, reclamation of a former parking lot as an open meadow, and consensus building within an energized community.
The project represents the successful integration of BSC’s engineering and ecological services, combining innovative stormwater management with wetland restoration and community advocacy.
This is BSC Group’s second ACEC award in two years. Last year, the firm’s information technology sister firm, Geonetics, received the Silver Award for design of MassHighway’s ProjectInfo web-based project tracking system.
