BSC Group received a Merit Award from the Connecticut Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for our work on the University of Connecticut’s Burton Family Football Complex and Mark R. Shenkman Training Center.
The annual award recognizes “Engineering Excellence” and honors distinctive projects that promote exceptional client service; social, economic or sustainable benefits; and originality and complexity of design.
The University of Connecticut project was recognized for its achievement in promoting sustainability as the University’s first LEED-certified campus facility, as well as the NCAA’s first LEED-certified site. Additionally, the award nomination noted the project’s innovative stormwater management program that placed five, 42-inch stormwater storage chambers under the parking garage to gradually channel stormwater to on-site biofiltration swales.
Principal Jim Fuda, PE and project manager Tom Tavella, LLA, LEED AP accepted the award at the ACEC/CT Awards Banquet at the New Haven Lawn Club.
