University of Connecticut Burton Family Football Complex

BSC Group provided integrated civil engineering, landscape architecture, environmental permitting, and land surveying services for the construction of a new training complex for the University of Connecticut’s Division I-A football team. The 165,000 square foot, state-of-the-art training facility is the on-campus home of UConn’s football program, and houses coaches’ offices, team meeting rooms, locker rooms, and other football-related facilities. BSC helped UConn overcome a myriad of design challenges associated with building a large, sustainable facility within a constrained site on the active Storrs campus, including working within a condensed timeframe, facilitating pedestrian access, and minimizing traffic disruption.

BSC contributed solutions to promote the project’s success in receiving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the United States Green Building Council. This project was both the first NCAA LEED-certified college athletic facility, as well as UConn’s first LEED-certified facility.
