Downtown Brockton Streetscape and Roadway Improvements

BSC Group provided streetscape and roadway engineering services to the City of Brockton. Improvements included street lighting and streetscape enhancements, roadway safety improvements, pedestrian way lighting underneath five commuter rail bridges, enhancements at key gateways to the city, and roadway regrinding, resurfacing and resealing. The project was designed to improve safety and help the downtown area to provide the sense of security needed for pedestrians to visit in the evening. BSC reviewed MassDOT crash data for the intersection of Main Street, Centre Street and Legion Parkway and made recommendations to reduce the number of crashes and improve safety. In order to gain financing for the replacement of traffic signal equipment, BSC assisted the City of Brockton in identifying funding sources through MassDOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
